Patchwork city. I adore the aging layers of Tokyo: I love it when a city presents you its history in a neat cross-section, no excavation needed.

'Shoe repair'. Almaty.

After a snow in Almaty.

A façade collage.

A strangely eerie snapshot from my microraion.

A Tokyo scene. I seem to be attached to this sort of head-on composition.

One thing that immediately charmed me about Tokyo was the prevalence of these amateurish hand-drawn signs. If AI replaces these little reminders of human creativity, I'll riot.

Everyday view in Almaty. I walked several kilometers every day along this canal.

Carpet cleaning in an apartment courtyard.

'Don't park!'

Collage.

A photo capturing what I love about Almaty- the tenderness of graffiti flowers on a dismal early winter day. Everywhere you look, there's a little reminder of human joy and creativity.

Late summer.

A sort of absurd courtyard scene: raw meat, stray dogs, snowman, roses.

Bazaar. Got yelled at for taking this photo.

Bazaar.

An old neighborhood in Almaty, affectionately nicknamed "compote" (a sort of fruit juice) after the names of its streets: cherry, pear, blackberry.

Compote again.

Bits of color in the courtyard.

Pharmacy.

Various ferments and pickles for sale on the street.

Unidentified objects.

Near Marjanishvili.

Plants in the Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography.

Side street.

Old Tbilisi street.

The Georgian alphabet is just so cool...

Wildflowers on the Sonoma Coast.

It was so beautiful it almost hurt. Though the Cinestill 50D stock was definitely not the right choice to capture it!!

I was really confused about why every gas station in California advertises smog. Who wants that, and who's willing to pay?

Bodega Bay.

"Drink! Coca-

Near Ala-Too Square.

Belogorka Gorge.

"Office supplies - new books"

Patchwork apartment building.

A variation on the same theme.

Edge of Bishkek at sunlight. The new development starts to block the view of the mountains.

Scooters along the city edge.

Bishkek skyline from a ferris wheel.

I love this unassuming photo. This is a monument to victory over Nazi Germany, and more specifically a monument to commemorate the massive number of Kyrgyz soldiers who perished in the war.

Along Prospect Abai.

An banal photo taken in early winter.

Outside the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Essence of a cat.

Cute Almaty sidestreet.

Road on Deer Isle.

Ruined foundation of a farmhouse on Deer Isle.

Lonely sailboat.

Inside Battery Steele, an abandoned military fortification off the coast. It's public property, with signage inviting you to explore it at your own risk.

A friend inside the battery.

Another photo inside the battery.

Fog on Deer Isle.

Deer Isle again. I like going on walks in the rain because even in late summer tourists are relatively few.

You need to time your walks carefully to avoid getting stranded on the wrong end of the sandbar.

Resting on the rocks is nice until you stain your clothes.

My favorite places in the world are those that are lush and covered with moss like this.
